UPES Dehradun, 4th Paras Diwan National “Energy Law” Moot Court Competition, In Association with GAIL

College of Legal Studies, UPES Dehradun is hosting the fourth season of its celebrated “Energy Law” Moot Court Competition. Organized in the memory of one of the most eminent jurist  of the country, Late Dr. Paras Diwan, the competition has become a unique platform for the students of law to moot upon the issues arising in the energy domain and to enrich themselves with an extensive knowledge of energy laws, which includes oil and gas law, power related laws, transportation laws, infrastructure laws etc.

The competition is being organized by College of Legal Studies, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun in association with GAIL (India) Ltd from April 3rd or 6th, 2014.

Participation Cap

The competition would host twenty teams from across the country, which would be selected on a first come first serve basis.


The registration can be confirmed by sending the Registration Form along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 3500/- in favor of University of Petroleum & Energy Studies payable at Dehradun latest by 24th February, 2014 (scanned copy to mcc [dot] upes2014 [at] gmail [dot] com) and 7th March, 2014 (print copy).

Memorial Submission

The registered teams shall send the electronic copy of memorials for each side latest by 18th March, 2014 (11:59 pm) to: mcc [dot] upes2014 [at] gmail [dot] com.

Two (spiral and non hard-bound) copies of the memorials for each side shall also be sent to the Organizing Committee latest by 24th March, 2014.


A total sum of Rs. 1 lakh would be given away as the prize money under the following headings –  Winner, Runners up, Best Speaker, Best Researcher and Best Memorial

National Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights

The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies is organizing a national seminar on intellectual property rights on copyright, patent and protection of indigenous medicinal plants, herbs, roots and practices between 24 – 25 November 2012.

The College of Legal Studies, offers an open stage for intense and intuitive brainstorming by artists, social scientists, legal researchers and professionals at this first National Seminar.
