Merkourios is the student-led, peer-reviewed biannual law journal of Urios, the Utrecht Association for International and European Law, and was founded in 1988. Merkourios focuses on providing readers with articles written by excelling academics and professionals on topical subjects.In the years since 1988, Merkourios has expanded its readership and is now distributed all over the world through our website and online databases such as HeinOnline.
The journal is issuing a Call for Papers to be published in its forthcoming general edition on International and European Law. The Board of Editors of Merkourios invites submissions addressing any aspect of International and European law. Authors are invited to describe questions and issues arising from the specific area of law relating to their topic.
Submission Deadline: 15 October 2012
Eligibility: Authors may be graduate students, PhD-students, post-graduates, professors or university lecturers.
Themes & Topics
The Board of Editors of Merkourios invites submissions addressing any aspect of International and European law; topics may include, but are not limited to International and European Human Rights law, International and European Criminal Law, Family law, Health and Medical Law, Children’s Rights and the Law, Commercial Law, Media Law, Law of Democracy, Intellectual Property Law, Taxation, Comparative Law, Competition Law, Employment Law, Law of the Sea, Environmental Law, Indigenous Peoples, Land and Resources Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution (for example Arbitration), or Laws related to prosecuting Terrorism
Writing Guidelines
- All types of manuscripts, from socio-legal to comparative law papers, will be considered for publication.
- It is imperative that all submissions conform to the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).
- Merkourios has a word limit of 15,000 words, including footnotes.
- Merkourios will select articles based on quality of research and writing, diversity, and relevance of topic.
